音響的主動分音又叫主動分頻，是主機的音頻信號在經(jīng)功放電路放大前在主機處理器里進行分頻。原理是音頻信號到主機處理器(CPU)，在主機處理器里音頻信號按照頻響范圍分為低頻信號和高頻信號，再把分好的兩路信號各自輸入到放大電路里，單獨放大。其分頻方式是數(shù)字式的。

被動分音也叫被動分頻，是音頻信號經(jīng)功放電路放大后再由被動分頻器分頻，分別輸入到相應(yīng)的高音或低音喇叭上。原理是由電感電路濾掉高頻聲音，剩下低頻聲音，再把低頻聲音輸入給低拼喇叭。由電解電容濾掉低頻聲音剩下高頻聲音，再輸入給高音喇叭。其分頻方式是由可變電阻調(diào)整模糊式的。
Passive frequency division is also called passive frequency division. 主動分音必 須是主機帶主動分頻功能或在主機音頻輸出后加裝數(shù)字式主動分頻器。

主動式喇叭其實很多人都用過，那些隨身聽的小喇叭就是主動式喇叭，也就是一般的喇叭箱中再加裝一組擴大機，當(dāng)我們要用的時候僅需前級而不需后級。主動式內(nèi)部采用電子分音方式，并且省去搭配合適的后級的困擾;被動式喇叭就是一般的喇叭，里面只有一分音網(wǎng)絡(luò)。
